Sunderland have no time to reflect on their 4-1 thumping of Doncaster Rovers with all eyes now turning to the Papa John’s Trophy semi-final.

Charlie Wyke scored all four goals as Sunderland thrashed Rovers at the Stadium of Light and they now turn to preparations for the Lincoln City clash on Wednesday evening with a Wembley final at stake.

Sunderland boss Lee Johnson was full of praise for his players at the weekend, with Aiden McGeady also providing all four assists in a stunning individual display against fellow promotion hopefuls Rovers.

Meanwhile, off the pitch, fans are waiting for confirmation of the takeover. Kyril Louis-Dreyfus was at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, sat in the stands watching the action unfold, another promising sign that a deal is now very close.
